Grits to Glitz

Girl chat with a transcontinental slant. Get the goods on the differences between grits and glitz. Two southern sisters, separated by 2000 miles, talk about what entertains and engages smart women, from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the sweet, soft hills of east Tennessee. (And don't forget Project Runway!)

We're back, and Bay can finally breathe well enough to podcast. And oh! We have so many things to dish about over our fabulous cruise! Food, wine, dining, drinking, laughing, tripping, and passing out! Turtles, dolphins, and the crashing waves! All of this, and "macawitus interruptus," too! You'll have to listen to the show to make sense of it all. Thanks for being such wonderful listeners! We would like to hear from you -- 206-309-7232!

Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the iPod again... wait, no, that's a different movie. We're back! Just for a quick little podcast before we jump on a ship and hightail it out of the country! Is it too early to put our passports in our purses? For this show, we're running the gamut -- Amy liked a movie, Bay likes her dog and cat, and we both like a couple of websites like Don't Pee on My House and RunPee.com. And darn it, Project Runway Season 7 has us on different sides of the fence! Not that we have time to spend just analyzing it to death or anything. I mean, we gotta pack!

Grits to Glitz, episode 192

We're giving you an extra-heaping helping of Grits to Glitz this holiday weekend -- and we hope it's the puniest and most unsatisfying of all the stuff you got! But that said, it's a really good episode. Amy reviews two of Las Vegas's premiere restaurants, one at Mandalay Bay and one at the Venetian. Bay regales the listeners with an epic saga of a dangerous quest with rich rewards at the end! We curse the United States Postal Service for losing stuff, and we laugh about people who try to tell Amy what she's thinking. Happy holidays!

Bay gets to rant a lot during this episode, so if you don't want to hear about berets and smoking French hens, or Amy's visit to East Tennessee, recovering cats and the dogs they tolerate, or how we're getting ready to go sailing through the Caribbean as soon as February gets here, you might want to skip this episode. On the other hand, we're brilliant! If you like Australian podcasters who sound a lot like us. Can you pronounce "ogle"? Bay hopes you can! Plus Thanksgiving preparations, family funerals, shopping on Black Friday, and so much more! Thank you for listening.
Amy dared me to write really great notes for this episode, because it was a really great episode. So here are my Grits to Glitz notes, by Bay: Scary voices! Drooling dogs! Dead pets! Getting old! Hermitic tendencies to sit alone in the dark in filthy rags chugging wine! Family functions with nametags! And competing with Jesus AND WINNING!

There! Take THAT, liner notes.

Also, call us at 206-309-7232, or email us at suckylinernotes@gritstoglitz.com!

Grits to Glitz, episode 188

It's a long show! We have so much to talk about and more bunny trails than we can shake a stick at. First of all, Amy went to a bunch of fine Las Vegas eateries. Bay calls her a bitch. Amy plays a clip from "The Strip Podcast." Bay still says Amy's a bitch. Then Bay reports on the one restaurant at which she dined in the last two weeks, and we gallop down some bunny trails involving Japan, listener appreciation, and Depression-era songs. Finally, a nice debate about some fun TV shows about geeks and musical geeks. (Note: We're leaving out the designer competition shows. Hmph!) If that's enough for ya, then we did our jobs. Email us or call us at 206-309-7232 today!

Thank goodness for Abe Lincoln, puppy dog tales, and new-fangled technology, or we would have nothing to talk about!
This is what happens when Bay procrastinates writing the notes. We talked about stuff! Bay laughed and pounded the desk. Amy thinks nice thoughts. We're sorry we're not podcasting about Project Runway, but in general, this season -- while pleasant -- doesn't have any stand-out designers except Louise, and the producers ... well, you'll see what we think about the producer interference when you listen to the podcast. Bay's got good news! Even if her mind is in the gutter. And finally, Amy's yard is full of crazy, dangerous things!

What would you do if your parrot started shouting the name of the man who knows every secret in Sin City? The columnist who can make or break reputations in a town that sees (and thrives on) rumor and scandal every day? You'd do exactly what Amy did: you'd grab your video camera and start taping. Noah the African grey parrot made it to the big time, and Amy and Bay couldn't wait to podcast about it. This mini-episode is just a quick celebration of Noah's introduction to show business. Anybody got a red carpet?

We're back! And we'll keep it simple. Amy and Bay are still alive and still determined to talk about nothing except absolutely fabulously happy things! Seriously! This time, anyway. So what's up? Well, vacation plans, of course! Cruises! Barcelona! Travel research! And we love all 11 -- no, make that 12! -- of our listeners, even if we don't know each and every one of you personally and by name. (Hi, again, Dayna K!) Amy saw a fabulous show that makes both of us exclaim, "Cuchi, cuchi" for no good reason at all. Listen to The Strip Podcast! Especially their July 23rd episode. And listen to Emergency Pants Podcast! Especially their Episodes 57 & 58! Did we forget anything? Oh, yes! There's a Vocabulary Vixen during which the Vixen totally changes her mind on the use of the word "tab." Who knew the Vixen was so flexible?

Get your slippers, pour a drink, and settle in for a nice, long batch of Grits and Glitz, because we got carried away and ranted about some stuff. Most of it good! Honest! We want to thank our listeners for their support and vocal praise (hi, Dayna K!), and we've got some cheap thrills to talk about, too. Oh, speaking of cheap -- the Vocabulary Vixen trots out a new-to-her mispronunciation that cracks us the heck up! Amy's phone finally works -- we know y'all were worried about how that would affect our long-distance podcast recording -- and finally, we're going to the dogs. Again!

But still -- guffaws follow our every topic from recommendations that fall flat to references that meet with approval, and hummingbird sightings, and what Bay's doing to try to keep busy while she waits and waits and waits.
So much to talk about, we actually had to record a show! This is when it's good to be in podcasting. Bay relates the tale of her Nashville vacation, during which time she tried out for Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Eek! And Amy loved a movie that's set in Las Vegas. Have you called us lately? You can, you know! 206-309-7232 -- and we love hearing from you!

We're back! We didn't mean to be gone so long, but man, we surely did enjoy hearing from all of our listeners who were worried about our podfading. With so much time to stew about things to talk about, we went long this episode. So get a beverage, put on your slippers, and kick back with a long show! We're covering Amy's walk for breast cancer (research, not trying to get it), Bay's disappointment with Sprint customer service, the latest puppy adventures, bird stuff, out-of-town husband stuff, and oh, so much going on in England and on the Emergency Trousers *International Edition* Podcast. And more. We love voice mail! Call 206-309-7232 and tell us what you think about, well, anything!

Grits to Glitz, episode 177

We're only late because the Interwebs didn't cooperate! Now, about this week's show: Bay usually writes the notes, and it's just not going well this week. Why? Because we were laughing so hard that it killed some brain cells, I guess. So here are the things we discussed, and a few other things, too: Nostalgia for Regis-Philbin-hosted game shows, puppy tricks, cupcakes, pedicures, spelling "v" words, precocious student stories, and prodigal gays whom we love. See why these notes aren't easy to write? We should have a show note writing contest! Call us at 206-309-7232 to tell us your prodigal puppy trivia student stories, too!

Spring must be going to our heads because we talked about, of all things, how windy it is in Las Vegas. Oh, OK, we talked about a few other things, too. Like how Bay never could take a decent picture, and how Amy is really good at it. And then there's the cocktail discussion. Next time you're in Las Vegas, what should you drink, and where? We'll tell ya! And if you're just looking for something amusing to read, Bay has a few more blogs that she really likes.
So we got a few details wrong, but our April Fool's show turned out to be really kind of on the money. How 'bout that? We discuss the high-fallutin' shindig that Amy attended in Las Vegas Saturday night, where she hobnobbed with celebrities, and then we just talked about Project Runway vs. The Fashion Show and how much we're looking forward to both of them. The Vocabulary Vixen weighed in with the difference between "unchartered" and "uncharted" in a Gilligan's Island analogy to end all Gilligan's Island analogies.
Listen, people, Bay's internet connection was broken all Sunday night, and now it's Monday night and time to publish, but Bay (who writes these notes) can't remember everything we talked about. We know there was a little bit of RuPaul Drag Race winner dish. (Congrats, Bebe! You were so lucky Shannel was kicked out early.) Bay doesn't get Twitter, but we both like Facebook. And there was a little talk of hummingbird migration and the end of the play in Tennessee. Then we got wrapped up in wrapping up the limerick contest. You guys didn't make it easy! So we called in a special guest judge, who recently came out from under his "charitable gag order" and can now jig and sing with the rest of us. (Yay, leprechauns!) Wanna be Famous? Then give us a call! 206-309-7232!

Grits to Glitz, episode 169

Bluh! It's Monday! Oh, wait, we aren't supposed to be complaining. Besides, we recorded the show on Sunday! Somehow, just recording our podcast always makes us laugh despite ourselves. So this week's show is a little freewheeling and informal, but we still managed to dish about more RuPaul Drag Race deliciousness, and plans for Amy to visit Knoxville while Bay makes plans to finally (FINALLY!) force her husband to visit Amy in Las Vegas. It's a trip exchange! Now if only we could get corporate sponsors. Email us at GritsNeedCorporateSponsors@gritstoglitz.com, or leave us voice mail at 206-309-7232!

Grits to Glitz, episode 168

Two weeks! Without a new episode! Whatever did you do without us? Whatever it was, you look fabulous! We had a lot, a lot to dish about, so here's a quick rundown of topics and people we discussed: San Francisco, Valentine's Day, Tiffany's (always good in conjunction with Valentine's Day, right?), streetcars, Scoma's in San Francisco, Etsy shops, scammers, 419eaters, Scamwarners, Barbie's 50th fashion show, Rob of two of our favorite podcasts, Peter of They Don't Know podcast, drag racing, RuPaul's Drag Race, America's Best Dance Crew (and why we're not watching any more), and finally, Harland Williams and his two opening acts, Paul Hughes (ugh) and Cort McCown (wow!). Whew! Now, that was a mouthful!

We're outraged. We're aghast. We're plum scandalized! I mean, lip synching has led to the downfall of many a singer, right? So why hasn't this case made front page news?! On a happier note, we're glad to see that Dynamic Edition is still clogging their way into the hip hoppiest of hearts, and we're still swooning over Quest Crew. The entertainment report goes from the sublime (Bay's performance) to the...not quite so sublime, but we're all about second chances. Paula, we still believe in you! As always, give us a call at 206-309-7232 or drop us a line at amy or bay@gritstoglitz.com.

Grits to Glitz, episode 166

It's a great time to podcast, if only to avoid the TV! Seriously, Amy and Bay are waxing reminiscent about how they spent last Super Bowl Sunday, and this one. Did you catch the Puppy Bowl's amazing opening? We did, and we think you should, too! We may be Pepper the parrot's biggest fans! In entertainment news, Amy saw another sibling comedy routine (the Smothers Brothers) this time in a casino. (Instead of on an iPod, like, you know, Amy and Bay!) As usual, we have to know how the opening act was -- and juggler Chris Bliss was good! Now, if only we can stop worrying about dropped tennis balls. Hi, Cody Stark! Thanks for mentioning us! Just in time for Amy to start planning her next cruise -- can you say "It's all Greek to me"? We've got a few words about America's Best Dance Crew, and the Vocabulary Vixen stops by for a rant about verbs vs. prepositions, and finally, we have to warn you that Bay laughed a little too much in this episode. We're just sayin'. Is all. Maybe next week will be more somber!

We're tickled and a teeny bit confused when our counter shows us a big ol' passle of new listeners. Who are you guys? Where did you come from? And what took you so long?! Settle down with a nice big glass of sweet tea and let's dish, y'all! We're still awed by the amazingly cool clogging/hip-hopping of Dynamic Edition, not to mention some of their competitors on America's Best Dance Crew. For once, Bay has more entertainment in Tennessee than Amy has in Las Vegas! And not only is Bay seeing great entertainment, she's relishing the fun of being an entertainer, herself. Go, Bay! Call us at 206-309-7232 and let us know how you found us! Welcome aboard!

Grits to Glitz, episode 164

Better question: If we're late three weeks in a row, can we ever hope to be cool again, ourselves? Wait a second -- we're Grits to Glitz, we're not cool at all! And that's the way we like it, too. So this week's hodgepodge of a show includes shouts out to our homeys who helped us shop, and Amy has a cool tip for Wii Raving Rabbids 2 that Bay didn't even know about. Wait a second! How can Amy have a tip about a game system she doesn't even own? Oh, yeah -- we're talking about that, too! Our puppies make us smile, our listeners make our hearts go pitty-pat, and to top the whole thing off, clogging has finally hit the big time in American basic cable reality competition shows. Hoo rah, baby! Email us at Amy@GritsToGlitz.com or Bay@GritsToGlitz.com or even ClogginAintCool@GritsToGlitz.com. We love hearing from y'all!

We're back! We didn't even mean to be gone, but we're back, anyway. Happy 2009! In this week's episode, we would like to concentrate on things we've heard about from our beloved listeners. Things like -- snarky-cute break-up emails, fabulous new fragrance websites (which reminded us of fabulous old tobacco marketing efforts), and stuff to drive the Vocabulary Vixen crazy. In the meantime, of course, we still manage to chat about stuff in general, reiterate how terribly misshapen Bay's Christmas tree was, and confess our obsession with the Wii console which may or may not be an affordable toy. Er, gaming system. Also, Amy reviews the movie "Slumdog Millionaire"! We may have taken two weeks to make it, but it's a heck of a Grits to Glitz show!

Merry Christmas! Happy Hollerin' Days! It's a Grits to Glitz Christmas special! And it's so special, we taped it on the road! We're absolutely giddy with the joy of being together in one place, so it's kind of a scattered podcast.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on puppies, Bright copper polish and men who aren't yuppies....
It's a do-over of the most extreme variety -- we had to tape twice. So if we don't make a lot of sense, that's why! We're dishing about everything from Bay's exciting Craigslist purchase to Amy's favorite harbingers of the impending holiday season. Ho, ho, ho! Honestly, we forgot more bits than we can actually list here, from praising another podcast's "hookers & blow" topics to the fictitious Bubba's of Tuscaloosa lingerie emporium. Darn it! And corgis in the snow? Not in this show! That's OK, we have a listener in glorious Alaska! That's cool enough for us! Amy reviews dinner at the Pullman Grille at the Main Street Station and the "Fitz of Laughter" show at the Fitzgerald Casino. Hilarious!

Hilarious!</itunes:summary>

It's another list show! First we must dish about pet happenings and possible pet events. Did Bay just jinx herself? Or is she just spilling her guts as usual? But when we get down to business, the business of tonight's show is ... blogs! They're not just passe! Blogs have not been completely replaced by podcasts! So we're just sharing several blogs we keep up with pretty regularly. They make us laugh, they inspire us, and they're easier to get away with checking on during the middle of work without tipping off any co-workers. Right? Enjoy the whole batch with us!

It's listener appreciation night, and frankly, we would stalk all of you if we could. What's Amy playing with in her sewing space? Is it something she stalked at Mood or the result of hours of stalking on eBay? Finally, we wrap up with some lists of creative email addresses we've received in our email box in the last couple of months. Not a lot! Just a little. Call us and leave voice mail at 206-309-7232!

It's a surprise show! We can't give it away without spoiling the surprise, but this week's show is short and very, very sweet. Well, it was great for us, anyway! From keeping secrets to shopping for shoes, from salads to sleepovers, this Halloween weekend was very unusual for Amy and Bay -- but greatly appreciated. Now, who's gonna try to spell "onomatopoeia" on a sign this week?

Bay's getting pre-disastered for her birthday this year, from fire ants to ugly cakes, and Amy's lucky enough to be along for the ride -- well, on the podcast, at least! We're reviewing good shows (and reminding you to avoid Dixie Stampede), possibly picking on Britney Spears, and finally, we're just sharing a recipe for a really good Apricot Nectar cake. Check out the website for the whole thing! And notice how there aren't any candles on Bay's cake! Why? Because it's hard to fit 29 whole candles on there, of course!

Ew, we don't wanna tape a show! We don't wanna write notes! It's one of those days. Why? What caused this malaise? Was it because of the cooler weather, or can we blame it on stupid endorphins? Whatever it is, it's still making us laugh. If you don't like it -- well -- tough! Maybe the Vocabulary Vixen can coax us out of our pique -- if we can read about it, that is.

It's the end of the season, and the end of our wondering who's going to take home the trophy. And we have a special piece of collaborative podcasting with Epilonious and his friends! It's kind of a split decision for us, and we're torn about who should have won.
We're getting back into the groove after weeks and weeks of strange, in-between travelogues while we gadded about for most of September and part of October. What was it we used to do with the podcast? Oh, yeah, we just chatted a lot! Tonight's topics include Amy's review of Red Square, a restaurant at Mandalay Bay, Bay's review of a nifty keen train ride through the boonies, and a bunch of bunny trails about comfort food vs. gourmet cuisine and what makes a good Trotter wife. Hang on, kiddies! We're just holding our breath 'til Wednesday night, anyway!

So Project Runway went all crazy and brought back all these designers who had already been auf'ed, so we got to see a bunch of people we had forgotten about. Well, not all of them! Actually, we enjoyed this episode a lot, and there was a party in a Planetarium. Which was pretty cool, but dark. Would we buy any of those outfits? Was Terri getting the bitch edit, or was she really just a bitch? And thank you, Bravo, for bringing back eye-candy Wesley for one episode! So many adorable moments in this ep!

Grits to Glitz, episode 143

For an episode that Bay declares is not her favorite, we surely did find a lot to discuss! From Heidi's curiously sudden affinity for demure dresses to a pair of culottes and all the way up to a crazy stewardess-like costume dress, we're just perplexed by this whole challenge. And is it just us, or were there fewer really great designs and a whole bunch of pretty blah outfits on the runway? Whatever; we are destitute that Stella is gone, but we loved her departing attitude. And of course, we have opinions about Leanne's second win!

It was a bizarre but fabulous episode of our favorite reality competition show, from the incredibly long elevator ride with voice overs to Heidi Klum's inexplicable assertion that a broken mirror affects her sex life. We were split about the fashion, but we agree on one important thing: We're definitely enjoying this season!

Time flies when we're having fun! Because it's already almost time for a Labor Day weekend, and Amy's going away for fun in California. In the meantime, we're loading up the show notes with links to stuff. We talk about new and old listeners, how Bay still isn't smoking, drought conditions far and wide, and Amy's a media whore. Well, she is. Or her dog Leon is. We're not sure who the whore is, but we're positive there's a whore in Las Vegas. We're just saying. Is all.
Grits to Glitz, episode 140

In an episode destined to become a longtime favorite for PR fans, we had drag queens trading bon mots with designers -- and besides Michael Kors and RuPaul, there were lots of actual drag queens as models! Amy and Bay indulge in a long dish session as a result. How much more could we love this season? It's so refreshing to return to fabulous! Bravo, Bravo! And finally, we've got a promo on this episode from the fabulous Peter/Epilonious of the They Don't Know podcast. It's all like a meeting of Project Runway minds, isn't it?

If bad things happen in threes, then we all need to brace for the next show. What is up with that? In any case, before things went haywire, we still managed to dish about guilty-pleasure shopping, guilty-pleasure movies, strange French-yeye type tunes, and whether or not Bay needs to get her ankle x-rayed.
Call us at 206-309-7232! It's fun to play catch-up with a Las Vegas floozie and a vocabulary vixen, isn't it? We're pimping out our favorite podcasts and looking forward to more shopping trips and holidays. The Strip Podcast, They Don't Know/Epilonicast, From This to That, and How Much Do We Love are all getting love from us this summer. HMDWL is having another summer cocktail contest -- check it out! And don't forget to catch Peter's controversial topic! Amy spent more time choosing things for her new desert landscaped yard than she did picking out her wedding dress. Is that strange? And Bay didn't blow up anything this Independence Day, but that's OK, because she might have picked targets this year. And goodness knows it's hard to podcast from prison. Tell us what kind of contest we should hold! Seriously!

Amy opened her gorgeous home, desert garden, and fabulous pool to Bay -- and dang if Bay can't quit talking about it! This is a travelogue, a trip report, an oral precis about sights and sounds found around Las Vegas during the period from June 20th to the 26th. And what a glorious visit it was! Amy is a gracious hostess! We met podcast listeners, got pedicures, and even brunched with always fabulous Steve & Miles of the Strip Podcast. And to top it all off, we cried over Bette Midler and sighed over Toni Basil's choreography. Oh, you should have been there!

It's hard to find anything to talk about other than the upcoming visit of Bay to Amy's abode in Las Vegas, but we still managed to find a couple of thoughts to discuss -- like whether we're fitting another Broadway show into this visit, and how many restaurants will we be able to visit during such a short trip. And Bay is looking forward to seeing Red Rock Canyon and Amy's just looking forward to the visit in general! In preparation for the mad touring, we are still working out -- and we're learning valuable lessons about how to do that without getting sick from the exertion. Is Amy making up cursewords for her trainer? Finally, the Vocabulary Vixen tackles one of those judgment calls that can drive a person crazy -- got it? Good!

Grits to Glitz, episode 115

Ignore the film crew following us from topic to topic. What? Oh, that's right, you can't see them! First, we welcome crafty new listeners to the fold. Grits to Glitz isn't a crafting podcast, but it is a podcast by crafty people! Amy discusses her fondness for documentaries, and Bay confesses that she's addicted to the John Adams miniseries on cable this month. While on the topic, we got off on a bunny trail about the ABC series, "What Would You Do?" -- well? What would we do? We would probably just podcast about it! Hi to lots of loyal listeners, and the Vocabulary Vixen is back with a pet peeve of her husband's. What drives you crazy? Email the Vixen! And finally, Amy reports on a Las Vegas tourist attraction, The Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. Is it worth your vacation dollars?

Grits to Glitz, episode 114

We're back! We're bad. We slacked! You're sad! No, seriously, we're back! And it's not exactly a typical Grits to Glitz episode. We need some practice to get back into the groove. We did manage to talk about how we need to get the Vocabulary Vixen back into the mix, so if you happen to have any suggestions, we encourage your input! Otherwise, we're happy that "Project Runway: Season 4" is over, yet it leaves us flailing about for a purpose. How's the weather in your neck of the woods? And we wax rhapsodic about Easter candy, and how Bay spent 10 years (or more) trying to force-feed Amy with candy that Bay doesn't even like. Why isn't the phone ringing? Call, man, call! and finally, we have pathetic puppy tales to tug at your heartstrings. Thank you for listening!

Project Runway Special 4.14, episode 113PR

OK, we weren't surprised. Well, sorta. We still thought Rami had a fighting chance until 10 minutes into the finale, at which point we both read the writing on the wall. Another season of Project Runway wraps up, and while the winner is almost as disappointing as the guest judge, we're glad we didn't have to judge the runway. Now can we get back to normal podcasting? Because we would much rather dish about fabulous Las Vegas headliners like Bette Midler than model-starving designers like Christian!

Project Runway Special 4.13, episode 112PR

Special guest caller Sean in Arkansas asks this week's question, but you know we thought it, too! We just dish a bit about the final competition between Chris and Rami, and darn it, we think the judges were biased. So now we don't really care who wins the final showdown. Ho hum. Can Bravo please cast some more interesting designers for Season 5? Does Bay have to watch Top Design Season 2? Is Amy's puppy Lola going to critique any designer gowns? These questions and more may or may not be answered on this week's episode of... Grits to Glitz!

Why didn't any designer behave like Lupe! We're a little bit rambly and sorta fierce, and we kinda think Project Runway Season 4's reunion show was a big deal.
We wanna hang out with Christian and his wrestling alter-ego! We also want to hear Tim Gunn refer to "Green Acres" more often, and we totally love whatever Chris is making, whether it's leopard-print spandex or not. We loved this episode! So do our listeners, and we had some great listener voice mail in the last couple of weeks. So who's going to Bryant Park? We'll find out sooner than next Wednesday, but just like regular PR viewers, we're pretending like we don't have the inside scoop!
Grits to Glitz, episode 109

It's a 7-minute recap of Bay's week in Las Vegas, plus a short review of California scenery, puppy dogs, and the crazy things that tourists do in Sin City -- like trying to find the only historic hand-painted beams in an 80-year-old former movie theater building. It's one of the oldest standing structures in the whole city! Go see it before it's gone, that's Bay's motto! Thank heaven we had Amy around to help with our gambling efforts (cashing out when you're even or up is smart!), and somehow the week flew by and we still didn't do all the things we wanted to do. Darn it, maybe Bay will go back again sometime this year! This is the true meaning of "grits" (Bay) to "glitz" (Amy)... right?

On the eve of Bay's trip to Las Vegas, there's only one topic of conversation: the itinerary for fun! There's really too much fun to be had in Las Vegas, and we haven't even found a time slot for gambling. We're planning a side trip to California to pick up the world's most adorable puppy, and we'll be putting a check mark next to one more Cirque du Soleil show. Then there's the dining and the booze juggling and the fountain hopping and more. Just wait for the recap after all is said and done!

Oh, my gosh, how we loved Sweet P's exhibitionism! Tonight's PR episode was super exciting with lots of action and angst. Bay really identified with Christian -- didn't you? And honestly, at this point, we're ready to ride along with the judges' decisions. We think Tom & Lorenzo of the Project Rungay blog have it all right: There's nothing wrong with this season except the excitement of fresh, young, untried, untested, and desperate talent.
No, YOU are fabulous! We love that Michael Kors for giving us an excuse to gush about something! Amid accusations that we're too mean, Bay is just mad because she didn't have any excuses for being really mean tonight. We're surprised by the auf'ing, and we disagree with the winner, but really, Christian was really well-behaved tonight and totally adorable in certain moments. Amy is worried because she doesn't have a "favorite" designer, but Bay remembers old seasons when she didn't have a favorite, and she's OK with waiting to fall in love with a designer. (Pssst... why didn't anyone notice that this was a three-Tim-Gunn-visits ep? Delicious!) Listen to The Daily Purge! Read Blogging Project Runway! Read Project Rungay!
Grits to Glitz, episode 106

It's a super-short show, mostly because we just couldn't resist rebutting our dear friend Miles (of The Strip Podcast). Miles says our Italian restaurant pick is lame-o. Well, Miles doesn't use the word "lame-o," because he's too cool and fabulous. Anyway, we're just desperate to earn Miles' approval, so we spend fifteen minutes dissecting his fabulous voice mail and wondering if any restaurant is worth it if you have to get a bank loan to dine in it. But that's OK! Because Bay's going to Vegas, baby!

Project Runway Special 4.7, episode 105PR

Whether it's big hair or big drama, we're lovin' tonight's glorious episode of Project Runway. We saw a return to good, old-fashioned, whiny designer drama! And we love it! So while we're trying to decide whether to dish about our own prom dresses (perfect, by the way, and completely tasteful, elegant and stylish) or our prom dates (ehhhh, not so perfect), the remaining eight designers threw a great, big, beautiful bitch fest for our delectation. Can't wait to hear what you think! Call us at 206-309-7232, and maybe we'll play your comments on the show! You can join the ranks of some of our favorite listeners -- whose messages help us round out our thoughts about last week's PR!

Grits to Glitz, episode 105

It's a scary show! Darn it. We didn't mean for it to be so frightening, but we started talking about a horror movie, and things just snowballed from there. What did we think of "I Am Legend"? Which one of us had to sleep with the lights on after seeing it? Why can't we just cuddle our pets to get us through our frights? Is it because they're sleeping in strange places?? And how many more times can we say that we've got great voice mail for the Wednesday night show? Shawn in IL needs to get his holiday wish granted! And furthermore -- what if we forgot something in the description? Will you still listen to the show even if I can't write great descriptions? OMG! I'm gonna panic now!

It's back, it's back, it's finally back! And, oh, goodness gracious -- was it duller than usual this week? Or is Bay just having a mental breakdown due to tweeting birds? We've got some great dish from listeners and friends -- you guys rock! Since this week's episode was so lacking in drama, Amy and Bay have a few suggestions for ways to make the show more interesting. Anyone want to see flaming dresses being juggled?
Grits to Glitz, episode 104

Stranded in East Tennessee for a week, Amy and Bay stored up oodles of things to talk about on their next "regular" show. But when is Grits to Glitz ever "regular"? A little of this, a little of that -- very little of *that* -- and the next thing you know, it's time for Bay to confess what she bought for herself when all the crappy Christmas presents were discounted by 70% at Kmart. (Ch-ch-ch-cheezy!) Did Amy get what she wanted for the holidays? Is it 2008 yet? And why, oh, why didn't anyone warn Bay that there would be a pop quiz about the movie they saw Thursday night? Happy new year, beloved listeners! Call us at 206-309-7232 and leave us some more voice mail!

Visions of sugarplums? Not Bay and Amy! We were dreaming of a Project Runway Christmas, and it's been so long since the last episode, we couldn't contain ourselves! Here's a bonus Glitz Blitz episode in which we ponder some deep Project Runway mysteries: Is Christian as bad as we've imagined? Is Tim Gunn really honest with us? Are we really so gullible as to be swayed by clever editing? Well...maybe. Thanks to some thought provoking voice mails from listeners, we have a lot to discuss, and it couldn't wait 'til the next episode of Project Runway airs!

OK, look: Tonight's episode of Project Runway was crazy. We know it, you know it, the designers know it, and we bet Bravo knows it, too. It was wild and hairy. And we have lots to say about it, but we're conflicted and we're really wondering -- if we podcast this fast every episode, it's hard to form coherent opinions.
We're still trying to figure out how to make a podcast short, and darn it, with all these designers and all their fabulously interesting designs, it's just impossible! So we're up to our eyebrows in drama this week, which Bay loved, and the judges didn't kick off the wrong person, which Amy loved. Although Bay wished they didn't kick off anyone. And Amy wished someone else had been in the top 2. And darn it, why are they doing a menswear challenge, anyway? But it was fun!
ONE HUNDRED EPISODES!!!!!! We couldn't figure out a way to hold a ticker-tape parade on the Internet without crashing a bunch of servers, so we went with the next-best option: A LIVE SHOW IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE!!!!!!! Big, big honkin' thanks to everyone who dropped in the chat room -- you're the bestest! And special, special guests dropped by and surprised us, which was super cool. Even though it left Bay kind of speechless! Big, big thanks to fabulous musician Robert Morgan Fisher, who is the coolest of all time, especially with his cans of greasy coffee beans. And huge thanks to Steve and Miles of The Strip Podcast -- Steve is so sweet, and Miles is such a hottie, even on the phone! We could go on forever. Is this an Academy Award acceptance speech? The orchestra is going to start playing any minute. Basically, this episode was just a total party from beginning to end! Thanks to all our fabulous listeners!!!!!

Thanks to all our fabulous listeners!!!!!</itunes:summary>
